To achieve the “not your mother’s writing retreat” message for Standing Stone, I combined a burst with textures and images that recall retreating: wood planks, a forest seen from above, and of course stone. The posters stood out excitingly across the UNM campus, where many of the conference’s workshop leaders teach.
J.W. Baz had a different set of problems: he had a title, a photograph, and a small budget. I designed the poster in black, emphasizing contrast, and oversaw printing locally. I wrote the tagline and laid the type as a banner, recalling the “What you see is what you get” qualities of the title and photograph.
